The Bayberry Saga
It all began years ago when the team behind this unique concept realised that there was a need to respect the environment, even as we show our love towards it. Wg Cdr Sudhir Krishnankutty (Retd) and Col Asheesh Istwal (Retd), both passionate adventurers and mountain lovers noted that traveling in the hills has always been a way for people to express their love for them, but this very love is also destroying the delicate ecological balance of the hills. Acknowledging the need for a change, the idea of Bayberry Adventures was born in their minds 10 years ago.
As they traveled to remote corners of the country, as part of their duty and
passion, this idea and their commitment to it grew stronger. After serving their nation for over 20 years they decided to finally dedicate the rest of their lives to giving shape to their dream. Using their expertise and vast experience they started curating responsible & sustainable experiences that would help travellers connect with the mountains in their most raw and uncorrupted form while empowering the local communities.
Philosophy
Bayberry Adventures aims to support, integrate & empower the local communities to develop an ethical, ecologically responsible, socially sensitive & sustainable model of travelling in the hill tracts of Uttarakhand.
We strive to imbibe the UNESCO mandated principles of responsible & sustainable travelling to ensure that neither the natural environment nor the socio-cultural fabric of the host communities is impaired by our actions.
We respect local customs, culture, lifestyle & endeavor to benefit the local communities economically while protecting their natural environment.
We are optimistic of developing off beat destinations that appeal to an evolved traveller and help reduce stress/over exploitation of popular destinations.
We focus on safety & enhancing our client’s awareness towards the nuances of each activity. We maintain a strong ecological flavour with total commitment towards protection of environment.
By involving fellow travellers in our various ecologically and socially beneficial endeavours, we intend to make the holiday of a discerning trekker/holidaymaker an unparalleled experience, with minimal ecological footprint.
